3 Arrested In ATL Hamburger Beat Down Viral Video

miami | 7:55 AM |

ATLANTA (WXIA) -- Atlanta police confirmed to 11Alive News they've arrested three suspects in a brutal beating that was posted online. The victim told police that she was attacked after she sat on a friend's hamburger.

Atlanta Police spokesman Gregory Lyon said Chasmyn Donald, 22, was arrested and charged with aggravated battery, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, and cruelty to children in the 3rd degree. The cruelty to children charge was later dismissed. Bond was set at $13,500. Her next appearance is scheduled for March 13.
Later Monday night, police said two other suspects, Tekia Strickland and Armonni Cofer, turned themselves in. Both women were charged with misdemeanor battery, felony false imprisonment, and felony aggravated assault; Cofer also had a hold placed on her by East Point Police. The suspects had their first appearances Tuesday at 11 a.m.
Myriah Pointer told investigators her best friends turned on her and beat her for nearly two hours after she accidentally sat on one of the girls' hamburgers.

"She grabbed me off the couch and started hitting me," said Pointer, 23.

Pointer was still bruised on Thursday, and she said she was still shaken from what happened ot her last Saturday night. She says what started as a night of drinking with her two best friends turned into a nightmare.

"They held me down," she said. "Took turns; stomped my face in – did all kinds of things."
She says the beatings went on for two hours as she went in and out of consciousness. The beating was recorded and uploaded on the internet – including on the site WorldStarHipHop.com, a site known for shocking videos.

In the video, the girls can be seen striking Pointer repeatedly, stomping her in the head and pulling her hair – all while a man sat on the sofa holding a 3-year-old child.
"What was going through your head when that was happening," asked 11Alive's Stacy Elgin.

"I just thought they were going to kill me," Pointer said.

Finally the girls gave her the phone back, and Pointer called her mother.

She has fractures on her face, two black eyes and two of her teeth are broken.

"I don't think anyone deserves that," she said, crying. "I can't understand it for nothing. I cannot be about a burger."

Late Thursday, both police and the victim's sister say it is only a matter of time before there are arrests in the case.

"Every phone has a camera. And all I can say is that offers great evidence in cases like these," Atlanta Police Sgt. Greg Lyon said.
